My name is Scott Resnick. I am a physician, a scientist, a teacher and a healer. I strive to help people understand their bodies and how reversible alterations in their diet, nutrients, hormones and biology can lead to a more fulfilling and vibrant life.
I utilize peer-reviewed, contemporary and scientific research from around the world to help guide my decision making and health care recommendations. I am continually studying to increase my knowledge of nutrition, supplement use, biochemistry and physiology so that I can provide science-based, personalized treatment plans to my patients.
My files are filled with both abstracts and complete articles of these studies. I am happy to incorporate a review of these papers with you at the time of your appointment if you choose.
The Practice of Functional Medicine
The study and practice of medicine from a functional perspective requires time, specialized testing and committed treatments in the form of diet, supplements, hormonal modifications and intravenous therapies. Essential laboratory and clinical testing is not typically covered by conventional insurance policies. As an out-of-network provider, Chattanooga Functional Medicine can utilize your insurance benefits to your advantage, and can request that your insurance company contribute to the cost of the testing and interpretation of this valuable medical information.
Typically around three visits are required to ascertain the functional causes, and remedies, of your medical condition. The intent of the practice is not to see a patient continually, but to remedy the biochemical abnormalities, modify the environmental exposures and return the body to a state of health maintained by the basics – pure food, exercise and clarity of thought.
